Director's Bio

Calvin Climie was born in Kingston, Ontario and grew up in Canada, Germany and England. His love of art and the natural world was nurtured from an early age. An avid reader of fantasy and science fiction, he integrated all these elements, at the age of 12, into a comic book about bat-like humanoids called The Mytosis Men. This universe became the setting for Hyperhelion which started as a project in film school and took on a life of its own. His aesthetic was also influenced by the work of Ray Harryhausen. Calvin has a Bachelor of Fine Arts from York University and a Bachelor of Education from Queen's University. He lives in Ottawa and makes his living as a teacher.
