Production

Hyperhelion was filmed using a process called "stop-motion animation," using specially constructed puppets, miniature sets, props scaled to the puppets, and models of the station and spaceships.

Stop-motion animation is a process where an articulated figure is photographed as a series of still pictures, which are projected in sequence to give the illusion of movement. Between each exposure, the figure is moved slightly - the greater the amount it is moved, the faster the action appears on screen.
